SI Swim Sneak Peek!

In some behind-the-scenes photos tweeted by the SI Swim crew, we spotted our ‘Coastline’ bikini being photographed in a top secret locale for the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition!

“Major pretty happening!!!” tweeted SI’s MJ Day along with the sneak-peek pic. Fingers crossed this major pretty moment makes it to the actual issue due out next month! xoK

Designer diary

So excited that my new Resort 2011 collection is almost finished!! Cant wait to share it with you all… inspired by travel, I’m coveting a serious vacation just looking at these dreamy new pieces!

In other behind-the-scene news, the office is busy, busy, busy these days getting everything prepped and ready for market. Jayne from the Apparel News stopped by the studio today to pull some pieces for her new ‘trends’ story which means we are officially into the season… hello swim 2011! I have about 400 unanswered emails  (sorry everyone!) and have been diligently crazed scouting locations for our lookbook photo shoot, casting models and finalizing the collection. Whew! Wish me luck! ~KC

Team Kushcush

It’s been quite the whirlwind here at team Kushcush since the SI Swimsuit issue came out  last week showing Lindsey Vonn in my Diana bikini!

We’ve seen the photo of Lindsey wearing Kushcush everywhere from LA’s NBC News, Access Hollywood and even Oprah. I mean, OPRAH! We’ve also felt the love from Lindsey & my hometown state, Minnesota. We’ve been featured on the Fox9 news as well as the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Being in SI is a huge deal for a swimsuit designer, but even more, I cant tell you how thrilled I was to learn that it was Olympic skier (and now gold medalist!) Lindsey Vonn wearing my suit. Lindsey and I are both from Minnesota and I come from a long line of skiers.

As a bikini designer, Im kind of like the black sheep amongst my ski-obsessed family (well, more like a California tan sheep). But nonetheless, I love my snow-covered roots and think it’s fantastic to bring these two worlds together. In fact, we currently sponsor Maine’s Team Skiers Edge, my nephews J4 ski team (go Nick & Dev!).

So, to celebrate everything snow, skis and bikinis, we are offering 10% off at for every individual medal Lindsey Vonn wins at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics! To receive the discount code, simply become a Kushcush by Kerry Cushman Facebook Fan or sign up on by the closing ceremony on Sunday 2/28/10. The discount code will be emailed out to Kushcush members and Facebook fans on Thursday 3/4/10.

Go Lindsey go! We’ll be cheering her on the in the super-G today!

Behind the shoot: Vita Fede campaign

It’s a wrap! I just finished styling the Vita Fede photo shoot for their new campaign (the new collection is amazing). Check out some behind-the-scenes action from the set!

{The look}

Mood board and inspiration photos. Edgy beautiful and masculine + feminine looks define the mood.

{The wardrobe}

At Kathy Walker showroom pulling stunningly modern silk looks for the shoot.  Next stop was French label Gerard Darel who’s blazers nailed the masculine + feminine mood with a distinctive Parisian-cool factor.

{The Shoes}

A favorite find for the shoot, a pair of fabulous Dolce & Gabbana black patent lace-up oxford heels. Loveeeee. They went with everything!

{The model}

Mia from Elite Model Mgmt. I love model style and Mia arrived on set looking great in a chunky sweater dress, thigh highs and distressed boots.

{The prep}

Steam it like you mean it! My assistant Sarah prepping wardrobe backstage.

{The hair}

Luke created big volume on the model’s fine hair with extensions and several coats of hair spray.

{The makeup}

Bring the drama! Make-up artist Andre Sarmiento gives Mia a flawless smokey eye.

{The shoot}

On set! Angelo from InHouseLA getting the shot. Inside scoop: the 800 images taken will be narrowed down to 8!
