Now playing: Bill Cunningham New York. Wow, I cant say enough great things about this heartfelt, funny & inspiring documentary of the original street style photographer, Bill Cunningham. The film takes a peek behind the lens of a fashion industry legend who inspires and moves us in the process. Untainted by money & the superficial, his unapologetic decades-long love affair with fashion reminds me of why I got into the industry in the first place. LOVE love love….

I love this look from Shopbop’s Fall’09 LookBook. The tulle skirt, sweatshirt and chunky boots are the perfect balance of ballerina pretty and tomboy casual.

To STREET-STYLE:

Spotted at First Friday ArtWalk on Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA. A blush tulle skirt could go really wrong, but she pulls off the look effortlessly. This is laid-back pretty with an eclectic, vintage Venice vibe.
Held at the Petersen Automotive Museum last week, Gen Art brought together five emerging designers for their annual “Fresh Faces in Fashion” runway show. With a tastemaker crowd and alums like Zac Posen, Rachel Pally, Jeffrey Sibilio and ahem…Kushcush (yes, a shameless plug), the show is always one to watch!

Somewhere in-between floaty florals and Doc Martens is Seneca Rising. The juxtaposition was like a of coming-of-age story where feminine youth is replaced with growing despondence & grunge.

Fashion loves some drama and Valerj Pobega certainly brought it. Behind the ball gag and nipple tassels were kimono sleeves and white silk caftans with gray hand-dyed stains. The finale proved no less the wallflower, with a beautifully disturbed ballet dancer twirling on high toe to an operatic pitch.

Fashion off the runway….cant go wrong with Gucci and a velvet blazer!

Loving the look…These boots are made for more than walkin’!

I wasnt exactly sold on the fur-tails and tassels from Marc Jacob’s Spring 2010 Collection for Louis Vuitton (it actually reminded me a little too much of the rabbits foot keychains from the 80s), but since his Paris presentation, Ive spotted fur dangling and draping on fashion-forward Angelenos all over town. Let’s see who’s been drinking the LV kool-aid.

To STREET-STYLE:

Spotted outside the shows at MOCA. Surprisingly, I actually kinda love this. The cool leather biker jacket, black trousers and slip-on shoes, all had a cool factor that doesnt look like she’s trying too hard.
*****

Spotted at Future Heretics in Los Angeles. Okay, a little too Ted Nugent! This one kind of scares me a little. You should be wearing the outfit and not let it wear you, ‘um….like literally.
*****

Spotted front-row at Future Heretics. So chic! A fur (or faux-fur!) stole looks great when toned down with a casual tee and jeans. I loved the added feminine touch of the white and black pearl strands.
