Fashion Week El Paseo

Fashion Week thaws out from NYFW’s deep freeze as it hits Palm Desert next month for FASHION WEEK EL PASEO. Fashion-consicious consumers and retailers will hit the big tents from March 15-23, 2013.

Saks Fifth Avenue, Lloyd Klein, Anthony Franco, Sue Wong and a slew of Project Runway alums (Mondo, Seth, Gordana, April, Fabio and of course Palm Springs’ golden boy Michael Costello) are all slated to hit the runway. Tickets are available at

Since it’s FLASHBACK FRIDAY and all…let’s take a peek back to last year’s scene on and off the runway!

Under the big white tents…

Ole! Sexy matador style from Anthony Franco

Sharp-dressed man at Anthony Franco

The men totally stole the street-style show. I mean, how amaze are these two? Love!

Gorgeousness from Michael Costello! Would’ve totally taken it on PR with this collection. Just sayin’.

So sweet! A parade of mini-models at the She She Boutique show.

It’s not fashion week without a little swag. This goodie bag courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue.

Fashion diary: Solange Knowles

Welcome to the islands! I adore these photos of Solange Knowles spotted wearing my Kushcush Lovey one-piece in Ikat while on holiday in Jamaica. She looks modern and hip while epitomizing vibrant island style. British Vogue captured the look for Day 24 of her style diary. Loveeeee it.

The candid shots Instagram style (photos Solange Knowles via Twitter):

The Lovey romper one-piece (with a built in support bra!) has a vintage vibe and can easily go from day to night. Available in bold ikat print as seen on Solange at ($167). Or go understated chic in solid navy, available at ($158).

How cute is she! The vibrant Ikat print with tones of fuschia, orange and purple is perfectly at home on a tropical getaway or an inspiration that spring is soon to come! For a little less is more, try the Bali string bikini in the same bold print, available at ($145).

Fashion on film: “Bill Cunningham NY”

Now playing: Bill Cunningham New York. Wow, I cant say enough great things about this heartfelt, funny & inspiring documentary of the original street style photographer, Bill Cunningham. The film takes a peek behind the lens of a fashion industry legend who inspires and moves us in the process. Untainted by money & the superficial, his unapologetic decades-long love affair with fashion reminds me of why I got into the industry in the first place. LOVE love love….

Editorial to Street Style: Ballerina Skirt

The EDITORIAL inspiration from Shopbop

I love this look from Shopbop’s Fall’09 LookBook. The tulle skirt, sweatshirt and chunky boots are the perfect balance of ballerina pretty and tomboy casual.

Spotted at First Friday ArtWalk on Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA.  A blush tulle skirt could go really wrong, but she pulls off the look effortlessly. This is laid-back pretty with an eclectic, vintage Venice vibe.

Fresh Faces in Fashion

Held at the Petersen Automotive Museum last week, Gen Art brought together five emerging designers for their annual “Fresh Faces in Fashion” runway show.  With a tastemaker crowd and alums like Zac Posen, Rachel Pally, Jeffrey Sibilio and ahem…Kushcush (yes, a shameless plug), the show is always one to watch!

Somewhere in-between floaty florals and Doc Martens is Seneca Rising. The juxtaposition was like a of coming-of-age story where feminine youth is replaced with growing despondence & grunge.

Fashion loves some drama and Valerj Pobega certainly brought it. Behind the ball gag and nipple tassels were kimono sleeves and white silk caftans with gray hand-dyed stains. The finale proved no less the wallflower, with a beautifully disturbed ballet dancer twirling on high toe to an operatic pitch.

Fashion off the runway….cant go wrong with Gucci and a velvet blazer!

Loving the look…These boots are made for more than walkin’!
