I’ve been blissfully bundled over the last week, ringing in the New Year with my brother and family at Sugarloaf ski resort in Maine. While I covet a sun-drenched vacation (ahem, I design swimwear), it’s been a winter wonderland swooshing down the slopes, toasting apre-ski cocktails at the lodge and reading by the fire.

My brother Josh making it look so easy!

While throwing a few bikinis in a duffle is easy, packing for a winter vacation can be a serious challenge (especially when you live in sunny California). So I put together a few picks for my winter wardrobe must-haves, check it out!

Back in Black ~ The long length and skinny style on this classic turtleneck means you can easily layer for warmth or wear solo for easy apre-ski style. {My pick: I designed this one for my Fall collection a few years back, it’s made of Rayon/Spandex which makes for a super soft feel.}

Armed and Dangerous ~ You can leave the jewelry drawer behind on a ski vacation, but bringing one easy-to-wear bracelet can turn a simple turtleneck into an understated style. {My pick: Leather double-wrap bracelet with gold hex studs by Vita Fede for $63.}

Underneath it All ~ My new best friend. Layer under leggings and ski pants by day and wear with a long sleeve dress and boots by night. Love love love! I have a brown and dark grey pair that are both in steady rotation. {My pick: Merino wool in a modern cable-knit pattern, available at Stockingirl for $44.99 each.}

Twinkle toes ~ These are a staple for every trip I take, but so key on a winter vacation. They keep your tootsies warm while lounging around after a day on the slopes and the cute ballet style doesnt leave you feeling like you’re wearing your bathrobe slippers if guests come over. {My pick: Isotoner Classic Satin Ballerina Slippers for $18.}

Keep it cozy ~ Lodge chic is all about easy style. I love a cocoon-style wrap sweater or belted cardigan. They keep you cozy but add instant style to everything. {My pick: I have a grey Kushcush cocoon sweater that is my go-to, but this belted waffle version from Shopbop also hits the mark for chalet chic.}

Boot up ~ A pair of warm winter boots that can go from dinner at the lodge to a romp in the snow is key! My pick: I scored a black version of these suede Jeffrey Campbell boots at LF’s warehouse sale (for $35!). They are the perfect mix of stylish & utilitarian and I love the tall height and cozy fur lining.
