Hot in Hollywood

It might be chilly outside but oh baby, it’s hot in here! LA spot du jour, Voyeur, hosted the annual UsWeekly ‘Hot Hollywood’ Party last night to celebrate all things, well…. HOT.

With burlesque dancers lounging above head, a gifting suit in the back and an open bar serving up Skyy vodka cocktails, everyone’s favorite love-to-hate celeb magazine, UsWeekly, packed the house with guests like LL Cool J, Audrina Patridge, Taryn Manning, Joel McHale, Jenna Fischer, Mya and Bridget Marquardt.

Feeling a little under the weather, I didnt have a lot of energy for wardrobe. I added an instant style update to my favorite LBD by adding some chic pattern-knit tights and a cream velvet wrap trench.

Office Hottie: Jenna Fischer. I love the dry, witty humor of The Office and so enjoyed chatting with Jenna (aka Pam) and her fiance, Lee. Jenna and I use to work in advertising together back in the day (we were both assistants!)…and said she recently wore a Kushcush bikini I designed on a SELF magazine shoot (love that!). She is just lovely and can we have a moment on how flawless her hair & makeup were? So polished & pretty!

Hot Mom: Julie Bowen. If you haven’t seen Modern Family, you should tune in immediately if not sooner. It’s quirky, documentary style is like The Office meets Desperate Housewives. So funny! Julie Bowen, who’s hilarious on the show and so cool in person, was on hand rocking the leopard trend. The dress looked great, but unforch the coat just felt a bit frumpy & was not working for me.

The Hot ‘Girl Next Door’: Bridget Marquardt. Looking sexy as always, Bridget partied with friends in her amped-up LBD and bright pink shoes. Kushcush Scoop: Bridget recently wore a Kushcush bikini on her Travel Channel show Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches and told me it was one of her favorites!

Spotted: Kristin Cavallari. The black straps and layered zippers are New York fierce with an overt sex appeal. I love the look but it was feeling a little ‘another time, another place’ for me. Perhaps too edgy and serious for a mainstream mag party celebrating all things like hot ‘n stuff.

Spotted: Taryn Manning. The silver dress… flawless. The detailed black leather jacket…love. Together? Um, not so much. She looked sooo hot in this silver mini but I really wanted her to take the jacket off! Without the jacket and perhaps a pair of nude ankle boots….now that is LOVE!

Spotted: Audrina Patridge. Love the look! The draped dress, the pretty hair, bracelets on both wrists (a new trend Im loving!) and fabulous grey heels. Spot on & so perfect for the event.

Spotted: Mark Salling (aka Puck from Glee). This picture does not do him justice! With his little faux hawk and bad boy sex appeal (aka: the..I couldnt be bothered to dress up for the party, so I just threw on this plaid shirt), Mark is turning everyday life (like high school choir?) into something oh so much sexier…

Fresh Faces in Fashion

Held at the Petersen Automotive Museum last week, Gen Art brought together five emerging designers for their annual “Fresh Faces in Fashion” runway show.  With a tastemaker crowd and alums like Zac Posen, Rachel Pally, Jeffrey Sibilio and ahem…Kushcush (yes, a shameless plug), the show is always one to watch!

Somewhere in-between floaty florals and Doc Martens is Seneca Rising. The juxtaposition was like a of coming-of-age story where feminine youth is replaced with growing despondence & grunge.

Fashion loves some drama and Valerj Pobega certainly brought it. Behind the ball gag and nipple tassels were kimono sleeves and white silk caftans with gray hand-dyed stains. The finale proved no less the wallflower, with a beautifully disturbed ballet dancer twirling on high toe to an operatic pitch.

Fashion off the runway….cant go wrong with Gucci and a velvet blazer!

Loving the look…These boots are made for more than walkin’!

70’s Chic!

Seen at: GenArt’s Fresh Faces in Fashion

GenArt always bring out the style-setters and scenesters wearing the next big thing, so last night’s Fresh Faces in Fashion runway show was the perfect event to rock my new obsession, vintage super hi-waisted jeans I picked up last week in Phoenix.

Style This! The jeans are a serious statement, so the key to not making them look like you’re going to a 70’s theme party is keeping the rest of the ensemble modern, clean and chic. I paired them with a cream silk top by Banana Republic, a few wrist bangles from Vita Fede, tan Mary Jane platforms from Shoes for Lovely People and my grey leather Miu Miu. I love how the braided handle looks with the hi-waist, it reminds me of the 70’s, but is totally modern.

Stella McCartney? Chloe? Every fashionista with a blog was inquiring on my fabulous vintage find. Check out some pics below.

Me being interviewed by FabSugar for their “Look of the Day.”

Dont forget the shoes!

Louis Verdad & I talking fashion… “Vintage?” he asked. “They are too fabulous, tell them they are Stella McCartney!”

And the jeans? I bought them on a road trip to see U2 last week. One of my favorite things to do on a road trip is to check out local vintage and thrift stores. These came from ‘Classic American Kaos’ in Tempe, Arizona. A fabulous mix of vintage jeans, cowboy boots, concert t’s and vintage dresses with a super knowledgeable & friendly staff.

Runway to Street-Style

I wasnt exactly sold on the fur-tails and tassels from Marc Jacob’s Spring 2010 Collection for Louis Vuitton (it actually reminded me a little too much of the rabbits foot keychains from the 80s), but since his Paris presentation, Ive spotted fur dangling and draping on fashion-forward Angelenos all over town. Let’s see who’s been drinking the LV kool-aid.

The RUNWAY inspiration: Fur-tails at Louis Vuitton

Spotted outside the shows at MOCA. Surprisingly, I actually kinda love this. The cool leather biker jacket, black trousers and slip-on shoes, all had a cool factor that doesnt look like she’s trying too hard.

Spotted at Future Heretics in Los Angeles. Okay, a little too Ted Nugent! This one kind of scares me a little. You should be wearing the outfit and not let it wear you, ‘um….like literally.

Spotted front-row at Future Heretics. So chic! A fur (or faux-fur!) stole looks great when toned down with a casual tee and jeans. I loved the added feminine touch of the white and black pearl strands.
