L.L. Bean Just Nailed My Spring Wardrobe

{Let me preface this post by asking if you’re into stripes… If you’re answer is anything less than… uhm, OBSESSED, then this might not be your cuppa. BUT if you’re my stripes-sista, come aboard and let’s count the ways we can eat baguettes, plan boat trips and pardon our french in these tres-chic seaside-inspired styles. Oui!}
Okay, moving on… When my outdoorsy dad could no longer figure out what birthday gifts to get his fashion-loving daughter, he started giving me L.L.Bean gift certificates. He loved Maine life and thought whatever one might need, you could get from L.L. Bean. So from circa 1987 to 2000 I accepted the challenge to find whatever L.L.Bean apparel I could turn into a teenage girl’s wardrobe. It was a challenge back then (though I fondly remember one particular blush cable-knit). Today, not so hard. Because L.L.Bean has seriously nailed everything I need for my Spring Capsule Wardrobe. Check out my picks below!

L.L.Bean Spring Capsule Wardrobe >> 9 mix & match pieces

Each item in the capsule wardrobe plays nice with the others, tops can be worn with all the bottoms and vice-versa, creating a whole lotta style options for only 9 pieces. Great for easy everyday style or packing light!
You probably have a pair of cut-offs or your favorite white tee that you can sub in just fine for a few pieces, which is great! Though keep in mind the key is how all these pieces play off each other. All styles currently available on LLBean.com, links below. So many outfit ideas, cannot wait to start styling!

70’s Chic!

Seen at: GenArt’s Fresh Faces in Fashion

GenArt always bring out the style-setters and scenesters wearing the next big thing, so last night’s Fresh Faces in Fashion runway show was the perfect event to rock my new obsession, vintage super hi-waisted jeans I picked up last week in Phoenix.

Style This! The jeans are a serious statement, so the key to not making them look like you’re going to a 70’s theme party is keeping the rest of the ensemble modern, clean and chic. I paired them with a cream silk top by Banana Republic, a few wrist bangles from Vita Fede, tan Mary Jane platforms from Shoes for Lovely People and my grey leather Miu Miu. I love how the braided handle looks with the hi-waist, it reminds me of the 70’s, but is totally modern.

Stella McCartney? Chloe? Every fashionista with a blog was inquiring on my fabulous vintage find. Check out some pics below.

Louis Verdad & I talking fashion… “Vintage?” he asked. “They are too fabulous, tell them they are Stella McCartney!”

And the jeans? I bought them on a road trip to see U2 last week. One of my favorite things to do on a road trip is to check out local vintage and thrift stores. These came from ‘Classic American Kaos’ in Tempe, Arizona. A fabulous mix of vintage jeans, cowboy boots, concert t’s and vintage dresses with a super knowledgeable & friendly staff.
